Research & Development Engineer
Wavetec is on the lookout for an experienced Research & Development Engineer who will be responsible for overseeing the design and production of different products. You will be part of a team working to develop and deliver cutting-edge solutions from concept to production.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design & Develop new products and redesign existing ones.
- Assists in the transfer of newly developed products from R&D to production and provides coordination between supply chain and production for new products
- Generate Design Specifications for products after discussion with relevant stakeholders.
- Create Test criteria for products in development according to their design specification.
- Testing products in development.
- Prepare and review design and production documentation.
- Prototyping new designs both in-house and outsourced (involves logistics and planning related to this also).
- Plan, manage and oversee all elements of the production from procurement to shipping to the client.
- Design/Create testing tools for production.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain materials for prototyping as well as production.
- Resolve product issues in development, in production and in-field by coordinating with the relevant stakeholders.
- Create product documentation necessary for compliance testing for international standards (for e.g. CE, FCC etc.).
Qualifications and Skills
- BE/BS degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in hardware and firmware design using microcontrollers
- Familiar with any PCB design tool (Altium, OrCAD, KiCAD)
- Well-versed in C language for embedded development.
- Good circuit design skills (Analog and Digital).
- Familiar with Linux OS
Good to have
- Firmware programming with Microchip PIC microcontrollers.
- Experience with version control like git and svn.
- Well-versed with scripting languages like Python and JavaScript.
- Experience with CE, FCC and Type Approval processes is a plus.
- Android programming skills
- CAD design tools (AutoCAD, Solidworks)
